Petition: Right to be Analogue!

ESC has submitted a petition where we ask for an EU Regulation explicitly guaranteeing the right to analogue (non-digital) access to essential services.

Public authorities and essential private service providers in Europe increasingly adopt digital-only systems, without providing equivalent non-digital alternatives. This excludes millions of EU citizens, including many of our members. Therefore, we ask that the EU's digital transformation must be inclusive, proportionate, and respectful of fundamental rights.

And, as we say in the conclusion: An explicit, binding right to analogue access is urgently needed to ensure that no citizen is excluded from essential services due to lack of digital tools, digital competence or ability to tolerate digital technologies. Read the full petition here

Safety Gate – Report Dangerous Products to the EU

The EU Consumer Safety Gate enables us to report products that are dangerous and may have caused accidents or injuries to human beings. The accident reports will be transmitted to the responsible national authority. National authorities can then use this information to submit an alert. For more information here.

The ESC board sees great potential in this EU's Safety Gate system. We will use some relevant examples such as our own mobile phones and laptops to test the system and see the outcome.

Please note that you must create a personal account in the EU system to submit a complaint. Once we have tested the system, we will provide more information.

Meeting with authorities: Use the Disability Card!

ESC is in the process of developing a disability card, which is the size of a credit card to fit your purse. When you get in contact with authorities – like in the airport or at the hospital – you can show them the card, which states why you cannot tolerate certain environments with radiation. You will be able to order the card with your own name on it. Stay tuned for more news on the card.

WG Have your say - feedbacks to the EC initiatives

After joint efforts an initiative was withdrawn!

European Commission’s initiative called “Activation of EU rules on radio equipment” which aimed to revise the Radio Equipment Directive mainly to help manufacturers, has been withdrawn.
During the public consultation, ESC submitted its feedback and completed the questionnaire. We shared it with the Phonegate Alert team, which raised concerns about possible bias because the questionnaire was conducted by a telecom company. They urged the European Commission to address scams that violate consumer rights and may pose health risks. This joint effort shows that working together makes us stronger.

EU rules on medical devices

The initiative aims to simplify EU rules on medical devices and in vitro diagnostics. It seeks to ensure the availability of safe and innovative devices in order to guarantee a high level of patient safety, public health and healthcare. We will welcome advances in medical diagnosis and treatment options. But does the initiative consider adverse effects of EMFs? Do you want medical devices to be safe when they treat you? 

• Should priority be given to healing without unnecessary exposure to electrosmog? 
• Should patients have the right to medical equipment that does not rely on wireless transmission? 

We invite everybody to send a feedback on the EC initiative.

Survey from Gesund verNETZt e.V. (Germany)

The organisation has sent out a survey to find out if different EHS populations are comparable. Could data on EHS from all over the world be combined for scientific research? Which aspects are really relevant when studying EHS? The survey was developed to create a better insight and to propose improved study designs.

Please fill in the survey – many answers are needed. It will be online until 15 February 2026. It is available in German, English and French.

The Right to Disconnect: New International Manifesto

A new International Disconnection Manifesto calls for a fundamental right to be offline. It warns against mandatory digital connectivity in daily life and defends freedom of choice, human autonomy, and access to non-digital alternatives. Read the whole manifesto here

The Netherlands:  Stichting EHS

Save the Date!

The international EHS camping week in the Netherlands is back again!

Last summer, there was a fantastic EHS camping week in the Netherlands.The Dutch ESC member Stichting EHS has now reserved the same Maashorst group campsite from August 19 to 26, 2026. The campsite is located in a beautiful, expansive nature reserve and the radiation levels are very low. We also warmly welcome our guests from abroad during this week. The main languages used will be Dutch and English.

On Saturday, August 22, the EHS Foundation will hold its annual contact day at this location. Sunday, August 23, will have both an educational and creative focus. During this weekend, we will offer an extensive program with lectures, workshops, and delicious food. And, of course, there will be plenty of opportunities to relax, such as yoga, music, and walks.

The rest of the week, the grounds are available for vacation, reading, walking, games, cooking together, or organising workshops with and for each other and some group activities. It will be a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and enjoy a holiday with interesting activities of your choice. Further information will follow shortly.

ANFR forced to transparency by Phonegate Alert

The NGO Phonegate Alert wins a major victory after years of persistence. Via an e-mail dated January 9, 2026, the Director General of ANFR, the national frequency agency for radio frequencies in France, Gilles Brégant, has finally announced the publication of non-compliant SAR test reports. This decision follows a favourable opinion from the CADA (French Commission for Access to Administrative Documents). Dozens of missing reports are now accessible via Open Data. Some of these documents have been withheld from the public since 2017.

How hospitals can accommodate patients with EHS

The Electrosensitive Society is an organization that helps people with electro-hypersensitivity (EHS) — they offer a general guide with recommendations such as measuring and reducing electromagnetic exposure to create more comfortable care settings for sensitive patients.

A Canadian hospital has adopted a low-electrosmog protocol to better support patients with EHS.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Wireless Radiation

Recently the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services headed by Kennedy has launched a new study into the health effects of cellphone radiation — a step that advocates say could reflect a major shift in federal policy. Kennedy thinks that the wireless radiation from cellphones, cell towers and other wireless infrastructure is a “major health concern.”

Disconnect to Connect – International Youth Conference 2026

The conference Disconnect to Connect: The Threads that Hold Us Together invites participants aged 16–30 to explore personal reflection, global interconnectedness, and genuine human connection beyond the digital world.

The programme includes talks by experts, interactive games, and hands-on workshops in areas like woodworking, juggling, and folk dance.

Organiser: young people from around the world in collaboration with the Youth Section at the Goetheanum and the board of the students’ representatives of Waldorf schools in Germany, the Waldorf SV.

WHO manipulates results

The World Health Organization (WHO) has been trying to manipulate its long-running assessment of RF–cancer risks, according to a prominent Swiss toxicologist.

Meike Mevissen, who was commissioned by the WHO to lead a systematic review on RF and cancer in animals six years ago, is charging that her study team had to defend itself from interference. “They tried to tell us how to do our work,” she said in an interview with Infosperber, a Swiss online news service, published in mid-January. New Science

Wireless radiation and early brain development
Radiofrequency radiation, similar to that used by Bluetooth and smartphones, can affect early brain cell development in a laboratory model of the human brain. The researchers observed changes that may slow or alter normal brain development at very early stages, highlighting the need for caution and further research.

3.5 GHz radiation and nerve cells
Radiofrequency radiation at 3.5 GHz—a frequency range overlapping with mid-band 5G—damaged peripheral nerve cells grown in culture. The exposure increased oxidative stress, reduced cell survival, and activated cell death (apoptosis) pathways, even without any heating effect. The findings suggest that nerve cells may be biologically vulnerable to prolonged mid-band RF exposure, highlighting the need for further long-term and in-vivo studies.

Controversial new study on wireless radiation sparks debate
A recent Microwave News article reports on the Korean “NTP Lite” rat study, which claims no evidence of cancer or DNA damage from long-term exposure to cell-phone-type radiation. The results are the same as the recently published - no effects - by the "NTP Lite" team from Japan. However, the findings are highly controversial: independent scientists point to serious design flaws, unexplained animal deaths, and inconsistencies with earlier large U.S. NTP results, raising questions about how reliable these conclusions really are.

Prevalence of self-reported sensitivities based on multiple classification criteria
A new study from Europe shows that people from Germany, Sweden and Finland reported experiencing symptoms from various environmental factors, among them electromagnetic fields. In the German sample 10% and in the Nordic countries about 5 % reported mild reactions to electromagnetic fields.
