Let’s get WHO to Recognise EHS!
Calling scientists, doctors and other interested parties:
Let’s get WHO to Recognise EHS!
EHS has real physical symptoms. EHS is not something that originated in the mind. Many scientists know about it. All people with EHS know about it. But who else knows? Governments don’t. Doctors don’t. This situation urgently needs to change. The good news is that we can try to change it now. Now there is a promising opportunity.
ESC is launching a new project and asking scientists and doctors to help. This so-called ICD 11 project aims to get EHS recognised by WHO as an environmental disease in its own right by adapting the online ICD 11 system*. Read more about the project below.
Both doctors and governments have major responsibilities in protection of the population and health care. But in the case of EHS, they lack the right information to perform their duties properly. If it had been any other disease, this would certainly have been different, because this disease would have been included in the ICD system.
But EHS never got a place in that ICD system. There is no registration of EHS, nothing is reported. There is no training, no tasks, no goals set. EHS simply does not exist as a real disease. Officially, EHS is not a problem.
But that may not last long
The good news is that WHO’s ICD system is now open for new revisions. Now is the time to have EHS officially classified in the system. ESC intends to get EHS recognised by WHO as an environmental disease in its own right by adapting ICD 11. This can be done through the public online ICD 11 proposal system.
ESC plans to create a working group
We are therefore looking for doctors and scientists who want to work with us to get acceptance done. And we are looking for people who can support us in this endeavour. The working group of scientists and other members will focus on preparing texts, selecting literature and managing the digital process. The scientists will debate scientific disputes with WHO’s ICD review team.
This is the chance to make a breakthrough
This is a perfect opportunity to publicise EHS at a much higher level, as the inclusion in the ICD system will come to the attention of doctors and hospitals all over the world. And it will provide the important data that governments need in order to see the seriousness of the situation and take appropriate action.
This is the chance to make a breakthrough so that all EHS patients are recognised and hopefully get more help in their healthcare. And maybe then it will also lead to lower radiation levels in the environment.
Come help us with an exciting new project
Give EHS a place in the ICD system and give EHS people a place in society again. Please feel free to contact for more information. We would love to hear from you.
*: To explain briefly about ICD-11: ICD means International Classification of Diseases. ICD is the international standard that is used for systematically recording, analysing, interpreting, reporting and comparing data on diseases and mortalities. Among other things, these can be used for clinical registration or by governments to determine effective public health policies. All acknowledged diseases are in the system. Most of the countries are using the system. We now have the eleventh version of the ICD system, which is therefore called ICD-11.
