    Law and Politics

    The working group was formed at the Second European EHS Gathering in Rièzes on 18th June 2023

    Objectives:

    • To review existing and proposed EU and national legislation regarding the development and implementation of technologies emitting EMFs to identify any areas of concerns with respect to potential adverse consequences for humans, wildlife, and the environment
    • To construct robust arguments with supporting evidence to demonstrate the inadequacies and potential risks of each of the specific sections of concern within the legislation
    • To formulate and disseminate written material:
      • To inform the general public, local and national authorities and politicians about the risks and shortcomings of existing and upcoming legislation
      • To lobby politicians to initiate appropriate amendments to the legislation to eliminate the risks and introduce relevant safeguards
      • For potential use in future litigation where applicable / necessary

    Present Focus

    Raising awareness of the inadequacies and potential risks of the current draft of the Gigabit Infrastructure Act (GIA) and lobbying to get appropriate amendments made before it is passed into law.

    The working group will follow this legislative procedure until the GIA is either adopted, amended or dismissed.

    We are responsible for operating www.esc-info.eu (the “site”). During ordinary viewing, you can use these without providing us with personal information. We only collect information that is insufficient to identify a person but allows us to have an overview of simple statistics:
    • your browser programme’s name and its version,
    • your device’s operating system,
    • the (anonymised) IP-address of your device,
    • the exact time of your request,
    • the URL-address of the requested file or page,
    • the address of the website which pointed to our site (the Referrer URL),
    • the result of your request (the HTTP Status Code).
    The site does not collect any information from social networks. If you click one of social media links you are redirected to those websites and there they collect themselves. If you will contact us via the contact form or subscribe to our newsletters, your name and email address will be recorded. In case of need to cancel the subscription to our newsletters, you can do so via the Unsubscribe link located in the footer of each newsletter, this will remove your name and email address from the system.
