Increasing numbers of children and young adults in Sweden diagnosed with sleep problems🔗
A 2026 study by M. Nilsson and L. Hardell based on the Swedish registry showed a sharp increase in diagnosed sleep disorders in Sweden. The number of children and adolescent aged 5–19, who were diagnosed with a sleep disorder, increased 17-fold between 2001 and 2024.

S. Gulati et al (2024) did not find significant DNA damage and/or oxidative stress due to being near mobile phone base stations (MPBS). However, chromosomal aberrations, cytogenetic damage, higher levels of lipid peroxidation and oxidative DNA lesions significantly increased in residents with higher exposure to RF-EMF from MPBS.

In Michael Kundi et al.’s (2024) study, participants received UMTS signal doses with a SAR of 0.1-1.6 W/kg via headsets for 2 hours on 5 consecutive days. Buccal mucosa and micronucleated cells collected from both cheeks before and 3 weeks after exposure showed clear evidence of cell cycle disruption and cytotoxicity.

Exposure to magnetic fields and childhood leukemia: a systematic review and meta-analysis of case-control and cohort studies🔗
A 2023 Belgian research suggest that ELF-MF higher than 0.4 µT can increase the risk of developing leukemia in children, probably acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Prolonged exposure to electric appliances that generate magnetic fields higher than 0.4 µT like electric blankets is associated with a greater risk of childhood leukemia.

Olejárová et al. (2022) study examined the effects of 24h exposure to 2.4 GHz RF-EMF on a tumor suppressor miR-34a and a colorectal cancer cell line DLD1. It has found that RF-EMF can shift the influence of miR-34a tumor suppressor in cancer progression from typical tumor-suppressive to neutral or slightly oncogenic.
